Dog snatched from Eltham

The Johnson family left their beloved French Bulldog, Jayda, with a pet sitter whilst holidaying in Scotland. Last night it was allegedly snatched from Eltham Lower Park.

Eltham police are appealing for public assistance after 17-month-old Jayda the French bulldog was stolen from Eltham Lower Park yesterday.

Police have been told Jayda and another two dogs were taken for a walk at Eltham Lower Park just after 4.30 pm.

The dogs were let off lead for a play in a fenced off oval near a club room.

When it was time to leave, the female owner opened the gate and the dogs ran towards the car parked in the club room car park.

The victim was closing the gate when she noticed an unknown man holding Jayda and placed her into a vehicle described as an older model white four door hatch with a noticeable dint to the drivers’ side rear quarter panel.

She yelled out to the man, “That’s my dog, what are you doing?”

The man then got into the vehicle with a second person in the drivers’ seat and drove away.

They were last seen turning south onto Main Road, heading towards Lower Plenty.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, middle aged with short brown hair and a solid build.

He was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt and shorts.

Investigators have released images of Jayda the French bulldog in the hope that someone knows of her current whereabouts.
