More than 400 tourism industry members and stakeholders attended the annual Gala Awards night held on Thursday, November 23 at the Crown Casino’s Palladium.
Holmesglen at Eildon won gold for the second year in a row in the Business Event Venues category, while Yea Peppercorn Hotel was awarded a silver medal in the Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services category. Sedona Estate Winery was named a finalist in the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries category.
Murrindindi Shire Council Mayor Charlie Bisset congratulates Holmesglen at Eildon, the Yea Peppercorn Hotel and Sedona Estate Winery for their achievements.
“This is a tremendous result for a shire the size of ours – we’re well and truly punching above our weight with each of the entrants receiving Victorian awards,” Cr Bisset said.
“It’s worth noting both the Yea Peppercorn Hotel and Sedona Estate Wineries were first time entrants in the awards – they’ve set very high standards and these go a long way to reinforcing our Shire’s reputation and attraction as a visitor destination.
“Council would also like to acknowledge Goulburn River Valley Tourism for supporting our local entrants with mentoring and other assistance.
“I’d especially like to encourage local businesses involved in our own Murrindindi Business Awards to build on their success this year and possibly put in an entry in next year’s RACV Tourism Awards.
“Good luck to the Holmesglen team who will now go on to represent the region at the National Tourism Awards being held in February 2018,” Cr Bisset said.
